Millionaire Motivation (finding your desire)
Jan 11, 2025Read time - 3 minutes / Disclaimer
Building a million dollar net worth often means:
- Leaving 9-5 life early
- Doing more of what you want
- Doing less of what you don't want
Unfortunately, finding the desire to build a 7-figure net worth can be a challenge.
Lacking Motivation
Motivation has a lot to do with consequences.
You want to:
- Avoid losing a job.
- Avoid failing a class.
- Avoid repeating a test.
So, you put forth enough effort to succeed.
But building a $1M+ net worth requires a different type of effort (and motivation).
True wealth for you may include yachts, planes, and lambos.
But true wealth for me simply means having control of your time.
Doing what you want each day.
Getting there requires the ability to motivate yourself.
I often get questions like:
"I lack the motivation to get going and build wealth. I want to change that. Is there any additional advice you can give?"
So, I wanted to share:
The Motivation Maximizer
This 5 step tool helped motivate me while growing my net worth from $0 to $1M (via stocks & real estate) while working a 9-5 job.
Let's dive in:
Step 1: What You Don't Want
Get clear on the things you don't want.
For example:
- Living paycheck to paycheck.
- Stressing about money.
- Working until 65.
Knowing what you don't want keeps you fired up when motivation runs low.
Step 2: What You Do Want
Get clear on the things you do want.
For example:
- I want to buy 3 properties.
- I want to build a $1M net worth.
- I want to escape the 9-5 life early.
Knowing what you do want propels you forward through life's ups and downs.
Step 3: When You Want It
Identify when you want to achieve the goals.
Picking a date makes them "real".
For example:
- I want to buy 1 property every 3 years.
- I want to build a $1M net worth over 10 years.
- I want to quit 9-5 life in 10 years and work part time.
Knowing when you want to achieve your goals helps cement them in your mind.
Step 4: How You View It
Now that you've written down what you want and when.
Find a picture that represents success.
For example:
A picture of a place you want to travel after hitting your goals.
Riding a camel in Cairo for the first time.
Traveling was my #1 source of motivation.
Pictures help give your goals more meaning and depth.
Step 5: How You Charge
Now that you've written down:
- Your goals
- Your timeline
And found a picture that represents success.
Put them in a place you look every day.
For example, your bathroom mirror or your refrigerator.
Seeing your goals daily helps your subconscious mind work through them.
Conclusion
Your friends and family will tease you if they see your goals taped to the bathroom mirror (mine did).
But it's worth it.
This simple tool may seem silly at first.
But it works.
Even if you don't have a clear plan just yet.
Seeing the goals each day stimulates your mind on a deeper level.
You'll soon find yourself reading, listening to a podcast or buying a course related to your goals.
So give it a try.
Post your goals.
And watch what happens.
I'm rooting for you.
See you next week.
